Who we are
Kingdom Abuse Survivors Project (KASP) supports adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse throughout Fife by providing counselling, responsive one-to-one support, befriending, and group work. KASP is funded by Fife Council, Scottish Government, Lottery, MARAC, Henry Smith Foundation and donations.
We are seeking new Trustees to help guide our organisation’s strategic direction and ensure our services remain effective and sustainable. This is an opportunity to contribute to a cause that directly improves lives, while helping to shape the future of counselling and support services in Fife.
What we’re looking for
We welcome applications from people of all genders who have:
- A genuine interest in supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse
- The integrity, judgement, and commitment required of a charity trustee
- A willingness to devote time and energy to the role
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and to speak up when needed
While all skills and backgrounds are valuable, we are particularly interested in trustees with experience in:
- Fundraising– supporting the Manager in identifying, developing, and supporting income-generation opportunities
- Policy development – shaping, reviewing, and ensuring compliance with organisational policies. Updating policy in line with legislation
- Finance and budget oversight – assisting the finance sub group in overseeing KASP finances and reporting back to the Board.
- Strategic planning – supporting the Manager to ensure the KASP Strategic Plan is up to date.
- Quality assurance and monitoring & evaluation– ensuring that the work we do is captured and we are able to report positively on all services offered within KASP
- Equalities and inclusion –
- Legal compliance and governance
- Counselling, support and befriending services

No prior experience as a trustee is necessary—training and information will be provided to help you understand your legal duties and responsibilities.

Volunteer Befrienders
KASP are looking for compassionate individuals to join our team as Volunteer Befrienders.
As a Volunteer Befriender, you will play a vital role in supporting survivors of abuse by offering a safe space to provide emotional support and companionship. Your presence and understanding can help survivors build confidence, reduce isolation, and feel empowered to move forward on their healing journey.
What the role involves:
- Offering regular, one-to-one support to survivors.
- Listening empathetically and providing a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals to express themselves.
- Supporting survivors in regaining their independence, confidence, and a sense of community.
- Maintaining confidentiality and working within KASP’s policies and guidelines.
Who we’re looking for:

- People who are empathetic, patient, and non-judgmental.
- Individuals who can listen without giving advice or solutions, creating a supportive and understanding environment.
- A commitment to providing consistent support and being reliable.
- No prior experience required – this can be done alongside study, part-time work, or other volunteer roles.
- We ask for a minimum of 1 hour per week once matched with a client for a minimum of a 3-month period agreed between you, the service user and the service Co-ordinator.
- Volunteers must be over the age of 16 and undergo a PVG check.

Volunteer Counselling Placements & Qualified Counsellors

Counselling Placements
Being on placement with KASP as part of your counselling diploma, will provide a rich learning in a specialised service. Working with CSA can be very challenging where the complexities of trauma are presented. However, can also be extremely rewarding.
Counselling Volunteering
Join KASP as a qualified counsellor volunteer to work through your accreditation. You will be provided with comprehensive KASP training, that will give context to CSA. Working with KASP clients will give a real depth of understanding and knowledge to CSA and enhance your professional development.
How to Apply?
Please download the three documents provided here. These documents will give you the information and guidance about KASP and the induction process. The Criminal Conviction/ Equal Opportunity declaration form will be required to be completed and brought along on the day of your interview (in a sealed envelope).
