Short Term Counselling
KASP has added another service to be able to support survivors of childhood sexual abuse in Fife.
At present, we offer open ended counselling to survivors, which means that the counsellor and client can work together for as long as they mutually feel that therapy is beneficial. There is generally no time limit on how long clients can access counselling.
People referring into KASP will now have an option to choose between open ended and short-term counselling.
Short-term counselling can help clients feel empowered to focus and remain committed to the therapy. This sense of achievable attainment in a short space of time can motivate and give hope to a client to move towards changes in their thoughts, feelings and actions in order to feel better and improve their situation more quickly.
Short term counselling is a valuable form of therapy and can improve people’s lives. Arranged within a set period of time, usually up to 15 sessions, this type of therapy can be more beneficial to some clients in certain circumstances than longer-term counselling.
