A Christmas Message

It’s often represented as “the most wonderful time of the year” but for many, Christmas can be an extremely difficult time. For some of us, our reality during the festivities is far from this.

Someone you know will be preparing for their first Christmas without a loved one. Others will be preparing for their last. The pressure of Christmas can be immense, whether it be emotionally difficult, financially difficult or difficulties with family dynamics…. It can be a stressful time. It can also bring up some difficult emotional experiences, such as trauma and grief. Maybe, for you, Christmas needs to be another ‘normal’ day, do what you need to do to feel safe and relaxed without judgement. Nothing needs to be perfect….

So, how can we navigate these challenges and protect ourselves?

Look after yourself

  • Prioritise whatever it is that will help you relax and feel calm.

Take time out

  • Allow yourself the time and space you need.

Reach out for help

  • If you can, be honest with the people around you.

Speak to someone you trust

  • Let others know how they can look after you best this Christmas

Thank you to all our staff, volunteers, trustees, supporters and funders for their incredible efforts throughout the year and please accept our Best Wishes to you and yours for a wonderful Christmas and a New Year filled with peace and joy.

KASP office will be closed from Monday 23rd December until 6th January 2025. If you find yourself struggling during this period, please see the downloadable ‘Safe & Well’ guide where you will find resources and support numbers.
