Meet Carrie
Hi, I’m Carrie and am a student volunteer counsellor on placement with KASP. I feel very privileged to be given the opportunity to volunteer at KASP and work with people who all have their own unique experiences, feelings and views. I aim to create a supportive and understanding space for clients to feel heard, respected and not judged but accepted. I am studying an Intergrative Counselling Diploma which means I adapt the counselling approach to suit the needs of the individual person at that time. The most important thing, regardless of the counselling approach, is the therapeutic relationship. It can take time to build trust so everything is taken at the pace of each individual client.
I’ve worked in different support roles since 2003 and am really enjoying counselling. I like meeting new people, hearing their journey and hopefully being able to offer support and help in some way.
When I’m not working, studying or on placement, you’ll either find me out walking my two crazy dogs in all sorts of weather, at the gym, reading or eating (I love my food 😊).
