Claire Baker, MSP, wrote to KASP to congratulate Kingdom Abuse Survivors Project on being awarded £141,501 from the National Lottery Community Fund Scotland recently. 

She expressed that she was delighted that this funding acknowledges everyone’s hard work and dedication to supporting our communities across Fife. 

Claire acknowledged that the Scottish Parliament welcomed the reported funding of £141,501 to Kingdom Abuse Survivors Project, based in Kirkcaldy, Fife, from the National Lottery Community Fund Scotland recently.

Understanding that the funding will go towards the recruitment, training, support and provision of placement counsellors and qualified counsellors. Once they have completed their initial training, specifically in childhood sexual abuse, they will provide counselling with anyone over the age of 16 (living in Fife) who is referred into the service.  

Placement counsellors are required, as part of their training, to complete one to one hours with clients before they can graduate as a qualified counsellor.  

Claire recognised that KASP offers services including counselling, befriending, domestic abuse/ CSA and a responsive/crisis project.   

As well as offering support from its Kirkcaldy base, Kingdom Abuse Survivors Project can arrange to visit people in their own homes or in appropriate meeting rooms, closer to their home to ensure that services are accessible.  

The Scottish Parliament believes that this funding supports a vital service that uplifts and supports local communities and makes a real difference to where it matters most; is grateful to the National Lottery players and Community Fund for this valuable contribution and recognises the vital hard work of Kingdom Abuse Survivors Project and its role in supporting vulnerable individuals and families in local communities across Fife.
